Thyroid nodules
The thyroid nodule is a growth of abnormal cells in the thyroid gland, which are usually identified by lumps in the neck area. These thyroid nodules are benign in most cases (9 of 10), but sometimes may be carcinogenic. If the nodule becomes filled with fluid or blood, it is known as thyroid cyst. These nodules, which in most cases does not usually give any symptoms, can produce discomfort in swallowing, breathing or cause hoarseness.
